Montessori Cosmic Education
The aim of Montessori Cosmic Education is for the child to be an independent, self-directed individual who adapts to their time, space, and group. The child finds their place and function in life and fulfills this function by reaching for personal potential. To achieve this goal the child must first recognize their own potential and then dare to follow the inner promptings.
Cosmic Education is an education which addresses itself to the development of the whole human being and to help find one’s place and group. Consequently it has 3 aspects: the physical, the mental-emotional, and the spiritual.
Physical
On a physical level it is an education which stimulates and integrates both hemispheres of the brain.
It teaches the child co-ordination of movement: motor-sensorially and socially to gain independence. It takes the person from a concrete experience which always involves the activities of the hands and senses to an abstract cognition of a concept. All the materials developed by Maria Montessori are concretized abstractions.
Mental-Emotional
On the mental-emotional level, Cosmic Education is an education for peace.
Through the experiences of geography, people of the world, and the fundamental needs of man it affords a global view illustrating how all people all over the world have the same fundamental needs, and fulfilling them according to the offerings of the environment in which they live. This, in turn, leads to the discovery of interrelatedness and interdependence of all life.
Spiritual
On the spiritual level it is a philosophy beyond all religion, as it is an education for the appreciation of unity with greater powers.
It illustrates and demonstrates Montessori’s theory that the infinite manifests in the finite; that the spiritual expresses itself in the physical and that everything in life has a function to perform which contributes to the whole of life.

Cosmic Education follows the evolution of consciousness from the very first particles all the way to the thought of mankind. It stimulates and encourages the child to listen to and follow their inner intuitive promptings on the one hand, and provides them with the means and tools to apply them analytically and constructively on the other hand.
